This will be the last post from Room 3 as next year room 3 at St Anne's will not exist.
Due to a loss of children from the earthquake our school has lost one classroom and it's teacher. So next year Mrs Grant will not be at St Anne's and the classroom will be empty.
It has been a privilege to work with the community and children at St Anne's. I have enjoyed teaching the children and trying to help them along their learning journey. Good luck to you all
Mrs Grant
Our class has 25 students from year 3 and 4. We are a multicultural class who all love working together.

The Finished Product
We wrapped the truffles up in cellophane and wrote the ingredients on them so people know what they are made of.
Then Room 3 and Room 5 walked down to Brookhaven Home.
It was great to be able to give something to the people in our community.

Truffle making
Our class has been looking at production and processing of sweets. We decided to make truffles for the elderly at Brookhaven Rest Home.
Chrystal, Charlie and Wyatt melted the butter in a cup in the microwave. It was really hot so they had to be careful.
Roan and Paige crushed the wine biscuits. It was a bit hard to do so Rob had to help a bit.
Evie, Harley, Letone and Mary Jane got to mix all of the ingredients together. They felt all squishy.
Railynnetta, Alecxis and Asa had to roll the mixture in to little balls and put them on the tray. Asa had chocolate drips under his hands. It got slow when Asa and Alexcis were doing the job by themselves but Railynnetta was quality controller and when she helped the rolling started to get faster.Finn and Kian were still chopping up the fruit in the food processor behind them.
Tayjuan rolled the balls in coconut and Madeline made sure they were well covered.
Elisah made sure that all of the christmas truffles were spaced out on the tray before they went to the fridge to harden.

Harley in our class collected all of the stickers from the milk and he sent them away. On Monday he received a box back from Meadowfresh and it had lots of sports gear in it.
Thanks a lot Harley.

Chocolate Factory Visit
Steve met us out the front and told us what ingredients he uses to make chocolate. He was making chocolate chips so we were very excited to see the process.
YUM!!
Charlie said " It was delicious"
Paige loved the gorgeous smell. She really loved the visit -especially the tasting.
There were no oompa loompas there- Steve had only one person to help him.Lots of children want to work with Steve at the factory when they get older.

Newsletter Term 4 2012
Dear Parents/ caregivers
Welcome back to the last term in 2012. This
last term is always very busy and is only 9 weeks long this year!
The RE programme this term begins by looking at
prayer and art, and then we will start our Communion of Saints strand. All
Saint’s and All Souls days will both be discussed during class time. At the
beginning of December the important time of Advent starts. Then it will be
Christmas! We will be supporting the many children in our class who are making
their First Holy Communion on 25 November 2012 at St John’s Church. The end of
year liturgy led by Room 3, will take place on the last day of the term. Also
we will celebrate our end of year mass which is a very special time at St
Anne’s. We expect to see all our students at this Mass. We will inform you of
the date and time closer to December.
This term our key idea is SYSTEMS. We will be
focussing on the technology we use for making and packaging sweet treats for
the elderly .As a finale to the unit of work Room’s 3 and 5 will visit a
retirement village to pass some Christmas cheer on to the elderly.
For written language, our focus is Discussion
writing and we will be presenting different sides of an argument. We will also
be writing letters and cards when appropriate.
Our maths starts off with looking at fractions
and percentages. This is an activity that students can further improve when
sharing out and cutting up things like cakes or fruit at home. Then we will be
studying Geometry-looking at shapes and their features until the end of the
year.
Please take some time if you can to visit our
class blog-stannes103 then click on Class Blog on the left side. Your added
comments are enjoyed by the children in
Room 3 during IT time. We hope to do a class blog/photostory this term. The
other classes at St Anne’s all have their own blogspots too. Your children know
how to access them.
Our music and PE programmes will continue this
term and children love these sessions. The Linfield Kiwisport will focus on
Run, Jump, Throw . Group singing with Mrs Ohlshot is fantastic and these
outside teachers are always so enthusiastic. They often say that they love
working with St Anne’s children. As well, Room 3 and Room 4 will be presenting
another end of year school liturgy on the last day so this is always a
highlight for the class.
Homework will still be times tables, spelling
and reading weekly. It is so great to see your continued help so your children
can get this homework completed and handed in by Thursday morning.
At the end of the term students will all be
taking home their school reports which are a comment on the student’s successes
and their next steps. This is also when children will revisit their goals and
see just what they have achieved.
Take care and God bless
Pam Grant
Alecxis and Shiloh's holiday

Talent Quest
On the last day of school we had a talent quest as part of our Mission Fair.
There were 2 acts chosen from each class.
Alecxis sang and played the guitar.
She did an amazing job. It was a shame that the microphone had technical problems.
Room 3 were very proud of you Alecxis! Well done.

Speeches
Today Mrs Moyle and Miss Grice were the speech judges. They said that all of the speeches were great as for many children this was the first time they had prepared a speech and used cue cards.
The speech winners were Mary Jane first and Finn second.
There were so many interesting subjects and everyone needs to be very proud of themselves.

Mary Jane talked about her culture in Western Samoa. She wore clothes from Samoa to make it more interesting.
Finn told us about the theme parks in Australia. He is looking forward to going to the parks when he goes on holiday at Christmas time.
Narratives
We have been learning to write interesting narratives using descriptive words. We had to have a problem and a solution in our stories.
These are some of our favourites.
