Hello Room 3 parents
I am pleased to be teaching your children this year and I hope that it does not have the challenges last year sent us. I hope it is a more settled year for us all.
Most of the children in Room 3 this year are very familiar with the class routines and expectations. The “new” children are getting the idea of what to do very quickly. The class has 18Year 4 children with a few year3 and year 5 children as well. This is due to the large number of children who are in the senior school this year.
Library day is Friday and we change books that day. Children can read their books over the weekend and return them any time from Monday onwards to the classroom. Children can add library books to their reading logs for the school week if read at home and they are also encouraged to read chapter books in class silent reading time
Spelling words and maths homework is written in homework books every Monday. Even if children are absent they will get these. The homework should be handed in on Thursday to be marked.
Reading homework is given every night from Monday to Thursday and children choose their own reading. The book should not be difficult to read.. Please sign the reading diary as this is the only way we know the book has been read at home. Comments are great too as we do share them in reading group time with the children.
If children are to be absent please let me know if possible as well as the office. Other family members can come and pass the message on to me before school-that’s fine.
In this level of the school the children need to be independent. Children should be doing things for themselves like homework, finding lost clothing, taking things to the office etc. They need to show accountability for themselves- most of these children are now in the senior school
If you have any problems that you need to talk about, I am always available. After school meetings can be arranged at any time- please make an appointment with me if at all possible as I do have some staff commitments.
God Bless
Pam Grant
