Term 3 newsletter

                                Room 3 Newsletter      Term 3   2012

Dear Parents/ caregivers

Welcome back to the spring term in Room 3. Hopefully this term will bring brighter days and more sun. It is so important that our children get to play outside whenever possible.

The RE programme this term begins by looking at the traditional prayer of the rosary then we will start our strand work by finishing the God Strand then we will start on the Sacrament Strand.  We are trying to help the children become more involved in Mass by teaching them the responses they need and you can also help us with this by looking at these at home too.

This term our key idea is COMMUNICATION. We will be focussing on the Olympic Games in London and the values attached to these games. Then we will look at how we can use these values at school. We will be rewriting our school values after this consultation with the students. We will also be looking at the games symbols and how they communicate messages.

For written language, the focus for the school is Narrative writing and we will be writing lots of these wonderful, imaginative stories through the term. Reading imaginative books from the library helps children to gain ideas for their stories at school. Our oral language focus is speeches and we will be writing and sharing these later in the term

Our maths starts off with looking at statistics and graphing. This is an activity that the students always find lots of fun.  Then we will return to looking at multiplication and division in Number. Homework will be times tables and also spelling and reading weekly. Thank you for the continued help you give to get this homework completed and handed in by Thursday morning.

To keep up to date with the classroom activities please visit our blog-stannes103 then click on Class Blog on the left side. We are now peer blogging with St Albans Catholic School and St Mary’s so our students can learn how to review and respond to other people’s blogs outside our own.

Our music and PE programme will continue to be led by outside experts this term so remember to ask your children what they are doing in these areas. The Linfield Kiwisport is something our class look forward to every week and these lessons sure keep everyone active.

This is an 11week term and it should be full of new challenges and fun for your children. The interviews at school are our way of sharing ideas between the parents and the teachers and are a great way for both of us to communicate with each other. I look forward to seeing you then.

If I can help with any school problems, please remember to contact me at school.

Take care and God bless

Pam Grant
