Trees for Canterbury visit

Rain and sleet stopped Room 3 from going to Trees for Canterbury on Monday and we could not plant trees at Charlesworth Reserve either.
Steve from Trees for Canterbury sent us a text  and said he would come to see us at school. So he arrived just after play at 11 oclock. He showed us a lot of native trees and  told us why they were so special. He told us all about how people collect the seeds, prick them out and plant them at the nursery. Then when the plants are big enough, people can buy them for their gardens. What a great way to keep our native trees in Canterbury. That's sustainability all right.
Steve gave us a pepper tree to plant at school but no one has had to eat the leaf of the tree yet...it tastes like pepper .YUCK!
Thanks Steve for coming- it was great to see you and you know a lot about trees. Paige
