Last Thursday, we made nets in to 3D shapes for maths. We are learning to identify and describe 3 D shapes.
Fantastic Friday
On our awesome Friday our huge school had iceblocks.I had lemonade flavour and it tasted like frozen, fresh lemonade.Other kids had juicy traffic lights and lime, raspberry and orange. They were fantastic iceblocks.
We had them to celebrate St Anne's feast day. St Anne was Mary's mother.

Ronald McDonald comes to school.
On Friday we went to the hall to practice singing. Surprise, surprise. "Ronald McDonald's here!" I screamed.
I couldn't believe my eyes. I thought my eyes were playing tricks. He opened up a bag and got something out. Then he got out a black sheet and hung it on the thing he got out. He took a tiny glance at us, and he squeaked like a mouse. He was a little bit shy. He was hillarious. He told a story about himself losing a red and white stripey sock and about road safety, but he found out it(the sock) was on his back. Miss French read the story so she got the stripey sock. It felt great being there.

Room 3 Term 3 newsletter
Dear Parents/ caregivers
Welcome back to school for term 3. I hope you enjoyed your holiday break with the children and were able to have some fun in the snow and some quality time together.
This term our key competency is THINKING- a skill that is vital in all areas of school and home life. We will be looking at some thinking tools together this term.
As well as celebrating our feast day on 5 August with a liturgy in the church at 1.30pm which you are welcome to attend, we will be finishing off the Church Strand for the first two weeks of RE. Then after a week looking at prayer, we will start on the Saints strand. Once we start on this, a note will be sent home. I encourage you to talk about church –related ideas when RE homework comes home. This is a great time for you to help children to understand the teachings of the church.
For written language we will be writing instructions for how to do things. Also Term 3 is the traditional time when we have poetry and speech competitions throughout the school. These will happen later in the term and your child will require your help at this time.
After three weeks looking at Geometry and shapes, we will return to number for maths to keep children developing their addition, subtraction and multiplication skills.
Cathy Baker from Kiwisport will continue to take lessons every fortnight to encourage children to keep active. In other PE lessons we will be looking at games that encourage and reinforce fair play and invasion skills. Swim week will start on 5 September and all children are expected to take part in this.
Our Arts focus is music and we will be trying some music making this term.
I look forward to seeing you all with your child at interviews next week. These three way discussions are a great time to revisit children’s goals, set new ones if necessary and discuss your child’s report. Interviews are on Tuesday and Wednesday. Contact the office if you need to make a time.
